June 19, 2013: The Touring Theatre of North Carolina is seeking poetry or prose written by veterans, their family members, and anyone now in service.
Joseph Bathanti, the Poet Laureate of North Carolina in conjunction with the North Carolina Arts Council, and in collaboration with Brenda Schleunes, the Producing Artistic Director of the Touring Theatre of North Carolina, are creating a production featuring the writings of veterans and those considered family of veterans. Ms. Schleunes is developing a compilation of these writings that will be presented in a Reader’s Theatre format entitled DEPLOYED. Professional actors will read the poetry and prose in a Touring Theatre of North Carolina production in Greensboro, North Carolina on November 8, 9, 15 & 16, 2013. After the November premier, TTNC will have the production available for bookings to tour the state of North Carolina.
This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the written work of those in service, veterans and their families, and to shine a spotlight on veterans and their writing initiatives around the state.
